In the centre of Ribeira de Maria Afonso, one of the best examples of a typical village in this part of Portugal, you can find Casa da Ribeira (stream house). With rustic baroque features, the house dates from the 17th century, as can be seen in the inscriptions dedicated to Our Lady of the Nativity, right above the chapel door, which is in the harmonious court that gives access to the house.
